Case Summary:

The I-140 NIW or National Interest Waiver client is one of the many immigrant visa types for foreign individuals who can prove that their work is of importance to the United States. • These publications have been cited a total of 131 times according to Google Scholar, showing clearly the major impact of her original contributions in the field of biostatistics.
• She has also received 4 letters of recommendation from experts in her field, two of which said the following:

“Improving the safety of PCI procedures substantially lowers cardiovascular deaths in the US. Similarly, cancer is the second leading cause of death for Americans according to the CDC. It is clear that [the client’s] research is crucial for addressing gaps in US medical knowledge, and she is well positioned to fill those gaps with her continued work.”

“[The client’s] research is particularly relevant to the U.S. because her applications of biostatistics improve biomedical understanding of disease prognosis and the health data of large populations. Her current work focuses on COVID-19, which is of considerable importance within the U.S. as the nation is currently experiencing a major surge in cases. Her research highlights areas of improvement to make preventive measures more accessible to at-risk populations. For these reasons, [the client’s] work is within U.S. medical interests, and her important work must continue unimpeded.”
