Client’s Testimonial:
“I had a great EB-2 NIW application experience with Chen Immigration & Attorneys. They provided detailed guidance and timely feedback for my materials preparation. They are familiar with all the key points for a successful application and knew how to best highlight the importance of my research experience to the society of the United States. I would definitely recommend working with this immigration law group to file an immigration petition.”
On April 12th, 2021, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Materials Science (Approval Notice).
General Field: Materials Science
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher
Country of Origin: China
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Illinois
Approval Notice Date: April 12th, 2021
Processing Time: 8 months
Case Summary:
With a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering along with an M.S. in optical engineering and a B.S. in applied physics, a postdoctoral researcher exhibited the ability to advance her research in the materials science field. When our client contacted us to help her in filing an I-140 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on her part, we started evaluating her credentials to prove the veracity. After reviewing her research summary and professional successes, we were certain that her intended research is valuable to be continued in the United States, and she deserved the national interest waiver. We began preparing a strong case on her behalf by adding the following key points in her petition packet:
We noted our client’s publications have been cited a total of 76 times from the nine peer-reviewed journal articles (five of them first-authored) and one peer-reviewed conference article (first-authored), which were published in no fewer than four highly ranked journals, showcasing that her publications are widespread and many other experts have referred to her research to further their own investigations. This citation record demonstrates that her findings have had a great impact on the state of research in the field. Besides, she has completed at least three peer reviews to date. Since only the most highly esteemed researchers in the field are invited to evaluate the work of their peers, especially in authoritative journals, it confirms that she is seen as very competent in the field.
Furthermore, her work has also been supported by several federally-funded institutions such as the Department of Energy and the Army Research Office, which are both dedicated to advancing the technology available to Americans. These funding grants prove her contributions to the U.S. are for increasing and improving the nation’s prosperity and security in the field of materials science.
We suggested to our client to submit the employment letter confirming her current position and indicating that funding for her work is expected to continue along with attaching some recommendation letters to bolster her case. She abided by our advice and obtained five letters of support from her fellow researchers, and one of whom contributed the following statement:
“[Client’s] work has direct importance for the United States’ continued efforts to identify and utilize clean energy. In the United States alone, the efforts surrounding identifying, understanding, and implementing clean sources of energy have poured several billions of dollars into the economy. That level of activity is expected to grow exponentially shortly and has profound implications for the energy supplies of Americans all over the country. Her research has an important role in informing the energy production decisions made by the United States.”
Most importantly, we detailed her research on using multi-scale computational techniques to develop functional oxides materials to accelerate low-power electronics development for neuromorphic computing and the United States’ technological advances and how it is of great importance because it offers distinct advantages for others in her field. Functional oxides materials such as transition metal oxides that she focuses on are one type of quantum materials for today’s quantum science development. Therefore, her research aligns with one of the most important research focuses in the Information Age that United States lay emphasis on.
Successfully, USCIS granted her NIW petition approval within 8 months, and that too without raising any further request for evidence. We thank our team first for handling our client’s case diligently and also thank our client for choosing us to draft her I-140 application and help her achieve this milestone.
