Client’s Testimonial:
“Thank you so much for your help.”
On March 19th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Staff Pathologist in the Field of Human Pathology (Approval Notice).
General Field: Human Pathology
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Staff Pathologist
Country of Origin: Taiwan
Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Taiwan
Approval Notice Date: March 19th, 2022
Processing Time: 4 months, 9 days
Case Summary:
A staff pathologist in the field of human pathology, our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Taiwan had an M.D. followed by postgraduate training. Her proposed endeavor was to identify genetic mutations that drive cancer development using her expertise in histopathology and molecular diagnostics. She wanted to discover new therapeutic targets and reinvent laboratory workflows that facilitate personalized medicine. It was only evident that her endeavor was of great importance because it had clinical implications for the prognosis and treatment of cancers such as thyroid cancer, other head and neck cancers, and renal cell carcinomas.
It was due to this reason that she could easily obtain 4 letters of recommendation from other experts in her field. Two of these had the following to say:
“Oncologists in the United States report more than 44,000 new cases of thyroid cancer each year. [Client’s] molecular studies of thyroid tumors enable doctors to formulate specialized and effective treatment plans for thousands of affected individuals. By successfully identifying new therapeutic targets and treatment options based on the molecular underpinning of thyroid tumors, [client’s] work streamlines treatment for and improves the survival outlook of Americans with thyroid cancer.”
At the same time, our team gathered additional information to support her claim to the National Interest Waiver category. This meant going through her academic and professional documents. This aided us in finding the following information:
- Our client has completed at least 20 reviews to date.
- Her research has resulted in 20 peer-reviewed journal articles (13 of them first-authored) and 7 published book chapters (all of them first-authored).
- These publications have been cited a total of 273 times according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of human pathology.
Considering her record of successful research in an area that significantly furthers U.S. interests, our client offers contributions of such value that, on balance, they would benefit the United States even assuming other qualified U.S. workers are available. Thus, while adjudicating, the USCIS favored our client’s case with approval in less than 5 months. We are glad to have her trust and we thank her for continuing to work with us on her EB1-A and I-485 petitions. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
