Case Summary:

With a Ph.D. in in Civil Engineering and broad experience in the field of environmental engineering, our client was a suitable candidate for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). Even so, we needed to be sure that we could build a strong case on his behalf and after determining that we could (during the free evaluation stage), an attorney-client relationship was established.

Over the years, our client built an impressive career for himself. From successful research projects to the publication of his findings, our client has worked hard to become a leader in the field. His research results have progressed the work of various scientists around the world, as seen through his impressive citation count (at the time of filing, this figure stood at 359 citations). Furthermore, the dissemination of his investigations through the publication of 2 journal articles, 1 book chapter, and numerous conference papers have made him a well-known member of the research community. North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) was tasked with proving all of the above—and more—to the USCIS, which we did effectively and efficiently.

Besides detailing our client’s achievements, we also highlighted the core of his research: applying chemical and data analysis to water research. His work is revealing new techniques and information for maintaining water safety and ensuring its efficient use and purification by industries, municipals, and state governments. This in turn impacts the United States’ water treatment plants, water sanitation practices, and environmental agencies, as well as to the recreational industry. To prove our point, here is an excerpt from a recommendation letter contributed by an expert environmental engineer in support of our client’s EB-2 NIW petition: “[Client’s] projects have obvious implications in meeting practical, real-world needs. For one, [Client] has outlined water treatment processes for a variety of contexts, from indoor swimming pools to wastewater treatment plants. In all situations, his identification of the best techniques to disinfect water improves the health and safety of countless Americans who rely on water for drinking or recreation. Furthermore, his findings also lead to more practical and cost-effective water plant design, therein presenting economic benefits for the country, as well as health benefits.” Five other experts contributed recommendation letters, all of which lent their support to our client and his bid to get one step closer to a green card.

Despite our meticulous presentation of our client’s credentials, the USCIS took longer than expected to take action on our client’s case. This resulted in us raising a service request on our client’s behalf to find out about the status of his petition. Not long after the service request was raised, the USCIS granted their approval, propelling our client a step closer to the finish line. We wish him the best as he adjusts his status for permanent residence, and we thank him for working with our law firm.
