Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group recently represented an individual from South Korea who filed an EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) petition. The client was a researcher whose work involved computational fluid dynamics simulations, high-performance computing, and developing efficient and robust design methodologies. He also conducted performance analyses to maximize efficiency, improve the safety and environmental impact of wind energy generation, and support sustainable green energy objectives. Our goal was to demonstrate that our client’s achievement; a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, is a member of the professions holding an advanced degree. Also, his research is an endeavor with substantial merit and national importance, qualifying for a national interest waiver under the analytical framework set forth in the Matter of DHANASAR.

Firstly, we showed that our client’s intended research work is of great importance because it offers viable solutions to clean energy generation challenges in direct support of national and international environmental initiatives.

• His research has been published in some of the top publication venues in his field, resulting in 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (4 of them first-authored) and 13 conference publications (7 of them first-authored). He also has 1 conference poster, 1 conference presentation, and 1 dataset published on the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information website.
• His published papers altogether accumulated 96 citations from many other experts, proving that he has had a major influence on other scholars’ understanding of topics in his chosen field.
• In addition, his study has received funding from the Vertical Lift Research Center of Excellence (VLRCOE): multi-university and multi-agency (U.S. Army, Navy, and NASA) program. Therefore, this work represents progress toward his larger goal of optimizing CFD simulations for use in military aircraft.
