Case Summary:

As an expert in the field of dermatology, our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Canada had a proposed endeavor to examine new techniques in dermatology. She wanted to improve the efficacy and safety of dermatologic surgical methods and clinical trials, advance knowledge about publication bias and enhance large-scale dermatology education initiatives, ultimately improving clinical outcomes. It was apparent that her research is of great importance because it improves dermatology practice and research on a variety of levels.

Our team after some background check found that all of her research efforts contribute to improving the rates of early detection and treatment of skin cancer, be it through improving the baseline dermatological education all medical students receive, increased standardization of surgical guidelines, or more transparency in clinical trial reporting. This is why one of her 5 recommenders said:

She has served as a committee executive at the 2017 Atlantic Dermatology Conference. In addition, she is a dermatologist member of the Dermatologists Reaching for Excellence and Achievement in the Practice of Medicine, which are both professional associations to which one must be nominated.

In addition to these achievements, her research has resulted in 17 peer-reviewed journal articles (14 of them first-authored), and she has also published one book chapter and one booklet. These publications have been cited a total of 68 times according to Google Scholar. In recognition of the value and importance of her work, it has been granted funding by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Dissemination Events, and The Academy of Finland. She has also been invited to present at various national and international conferences in her field.

These publications in authoritative journals and presentations at elite conferences serve as clear evidence of her recognized expertise in dermatology and ensured that her advances related to improving new dermatologic surgery techniques and expanding the accessibility and efficacy of dermatology education have reached a broad international audience.
