Approval Notice Date: September 22nd, 2023
Processing Time: 4 days (Premium Processing Requested)
Case Summary:
In July of 2022, the North America Immigration Law Group was approached by a South Korean researcher to assist him in filing a National Interest Waiver (NIW) petition. As NIW applicants are required to possess an advanced degree, we made sure during our inspection to ensure that our client met these requirements, which he did by possessing an M.S. in mechanical engineering. Furthermore, our team confirmed that the applicant was seeking employment in an area of significant merit to the United States.
We also found that he endeavors to develop novel approaches harnessing the ultrahigh elasticity and superior electrical and thermal conductivity of gallium-based liquid metal alloys to fabricate devices such as metamaterials, switches, crack-based sensors, and energy harvesters. Energy security is a subject of interest to the U.S. government, so his research will help to advance its national interest.
Upon our completion of his background check, we agreed to take him in as a client and tailored his petition package to focus on his research, as well as his qualifications and prior successes. The following details were included:
- Our client has a long and influential publication history, with 10 peer-reviewed journal articles (7 of them first-authored), 5 peer-reviewed conference papers (all of them first-authored), and 2 conference abstracts. His work has also been published in no less than 4 highly rated journals, showing the quality of his work to pass stringent inspection.
- Our client’s work has also been cited a total of 196 times at the time of filing, demonstrating that his work has been greatly relied upon in research. Furthermore, 3 of his papers have been among the most highly cited within their year and field of publication.
- Our client’s proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States, as the development of novel approaches for the fabrication of metamaterials, switches, crack-based sensors, and energy harvesters revolutionizes the healthcare industry and contributes significantly to the U.S. economy. One possible application that could contribute to the healthcare industry is the creation of targeted drug delivery systems to address the toxic effects of traditional drug delivery and enhance the therapeutic efficacy of medications. The application of alloys with superior properties facilitates the development of these targeted systems that exhibit flexibility, biocompatibility, and biodegradability, ultimately providing a safer treatment experience for patients.
- Our client also has 4 different letters of recommendation from other experts, one of whom said:
“[Client]’s innovative breakthroughs transform electronic devices, making them more reliable, adaptable, and efficient, paving the way for a brighter technological future.”
After a waiting period of only 4 days, we are glad to say that our client was able to secure approval for his NIW petition, and we would also like to thank him for trusting our firm and we hope for his continued success.
