On May 15th, 2015 We Received EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) Approval (Approval Notice) for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Polymer Chemistry
General Field: Polymer Chemistry
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Country of Origin: Sri Lanka
Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Connecticut
Approval Notice Date: May 15th, 2015
Processing Time: 6 Months, 21 Days
Case Summary:
The client that North America Immigration Law Group had the opportunity to work with in this case was a Postdoctoral Research Associate from Sri Lanka. His work has focused specifically in three major polymer/materials chemistry research areas including 1) use of conjugated polyazomethines for electrochromic applications; 2) DNA as a photonic and environmental cleanup material and; 3) the design and synthesis of fused heterocylic materials for organic photovoltaic applications. We successfully demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would benefit those in his field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, including 14 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers. His publications had been cited at least 70 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field. The importance of his work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “One of [Client’s] most influential research projects focused on the electrochromic applications of conjugated polyazomethine. Conjugated organic polymers, such as his polyazomethine demonstrate many interesting optoelectronic properties that enable its use in plastic electronics, such as photovoltaics, light-emission, field effect transistors, and even electrochromic devices. With these conjugated polymers, [Client] prepared solid state dynamers using on-substrate polymerization. Dynamers are constitution dynamic polymers, which modify their component constitution through exchanges, altering their chemical and physical properties. This was the first example of a non-electrochromic polymer to an electrochromic polymer conversion through the use of dynamic component exchange, proving that [client’s] research has truly been unique within the field”. Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 6 months and 21 days.
