Case Summary:

For this EB-2 NIW case, we worked closely with a Doctoral Candidate who has made substantial contributions to the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education. In his research endeavors, he has designed new teaching methodologies to increase participation of American students in STEM-related subjects. He has worked with the National Science Foundation to develop and deploy a new curriculum for the Computer Science Principles Course that is taught nationwide. His cutting-edge research has culminated in the authorship of 20 books on Computer Science and Programming, numerous conference proceedings, and 18 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts that were published in the top journals of his field. These publications have been cited 31 times by independent researchers worldwide, and the demand for his research has resulted in consistent invitations to present his work at several highly distinguished international conferences, demonstrating the global recognition of his endeavors. Our client addresses some of the most pressing concerns of our nation, specifically in regards to the underperformance of American students in STEM subjects and careers, and he has developed tangible solutions to this problem that are currently being implemented across the nation. Moreover, his studies have also addressed two other significant topics in today’s educational landscape—multiculturalism and inclusion of students with disabilities. The importance of his work to the national interest was endorsed by an independent recommender, who stated, “As [Client] points out, the United States must make sure that its students are competitive with students of other industrialized nations if we wish to hold our own in a technology-driven global economy… [Client] makes a strong case that there is not enough being done to motivate students to study these subjects, which is counter to the assumption held by some that American students just do not have a talent for these subjects. [Client] argues strongly against this idea, placing the onus on American educators, industry, and communities to motivate students.” As the future well-being of the United States depends greatly on the education of the future generation, our client’s work has, and will continue to, drive the success and development of our educational system. With the extensive and thorough documentation that we provided, we were able to prove that our client’s social advancements and continued research have substantial merits for our country and the scientific community as a whole, thus he has served the nation to a significantly greater degree than that of others with similar education and experience. We were met with success when his NIW petition was approved in 5 months and 20 days.
