On February 4th, 2019, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest 7Waiver) approval for a Researcher in the Field of Electrical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Electrical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Researcher

Country of Origin: Nigeria

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Texas

Approval Notice Date: :February 4th, 2019

Processing Time: 6 months, 22 days

Case Summary:

With an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and many years of experience conducting network communications modeling research, this PhD candidate from Nigeria was a good fit for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). After evaluating his credentials, we determined that we could help him secure the national interest waiver. With over 12,000 approved I-140 cases in the bag, the team at North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) knew just what type of legal strategy to take in order to secure petition approval.

To build a strong case, we spent several months gathering a wealth of useful information pertaining to our client’s research in the field of Electrical Engineering. We carefully reviewed and summarized his research focus on network communications modeling by expanding RF signal processing methods to include machine learning and studying innovative wireless network enhancement techniques. We also listed the 24 times his 2 peer-reviewed journal articles and 5 peer-reviewed conference papers were cited, along with the 6 times he conducted peer reviews for a well-known scientific journal.

Additionally, to support his NIW petition, we submitted six recommendation letters contributed by his peers. The six letters played an important role in securing petition approval as they provided the USCIS with subjective evidence that our client is widely respected within the scientific community. For instance, one of his recommenders noted in the letter: “[Client] has produced models, algorithms, and analytical systems of tremendous benefit to the United States, firmly establishing himself as an asset to the technological and financial interests of this country. If [client] is not permitted to continue his research in the United States, I foresee significant setbacks in research progress and the development of optimization strategies for wireless communications networks… The United States relies heavily on the work of experts such as [client] to improve existing communications networks and develop new approaches to monitoring, managing, and stabilizing wireless networks and systems.”

After 6 months and 22 days of deliberation, the USCIS granted the approval of our client’s NIW petition. We thank our client for choosing us and congratulate him for overcoming this significant hurdle in the green card journey. We also wish our client the best as he continues to carry out impactful research.
