Case Summary:
A China-born postdoctoral researcher based in Maryland hired our firm, North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com), to assist him with filing an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition. Before finalizing the attorney-client agreement, we surveyed his credentials and achievements to gauge how strong a case we could build for him. At first glance, we confirmed that he had secured a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from a leading university in China and specialized in stem cell biology research. In preparing our client’s EB-1A petition, we also noted the following points:
- At the time of filing, he had already published 7 peer-reviewed scientific articles and an abstract, which collectively had garnered 167 citations from dependent and independent researchers. This served as a sure indication of our client’s scientific prowess and highlighted the immense respectability he had attained amongst his peers.
- Our client’s role as a peer reviewer for high ranking journals was also noteworthy. He had already conducted 27 reviews of others’ work and served as an editorial board member for three well known journals.
- Our client successfully collected six recommendation letters from distinguished experts working in the field of stem cell biology. A director of a reputed research center proffered the following words of appreciation: “I am excited not only because his research has led to substantial progress in cellular biology already, but because his research has outlined the path toward the ultimate goal, which is understanding the cell in a way that prevents the development of deadly or debilitating health conditions.” Together, these six letters greatly fortified our client’s case.
- We also highlighted our client’s substantial contributions to the field, which are indispensable for clinical applied research of various disease therapies. We emphasized the fact that our client’s research addresses some of the United States’ most pressing issues in understanding stem cell behaviors and identifying the molecular natures responsible for stem cell maintenance and differentiation. We worked diligently to convince the USCIS that allowing our client to continue conducting research in the US progresses the development of novel solutions for treating debilitating and life-threatening diseases.
We filed our client’s EB1A petition and later upgraded it to Premium Processing (PP). This upgrade led to a quick response from the USCIS and our client’s EB1A petition was approved merely 13 days after the upgrade. In total, our client waited 4 months and 9 days for action to be taken on his EB-1A petition. We are elated at our client’s success and thank him for working with us.
