On February 29th, 2016, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Chemical Engineering (Approval Notice).
General Field: Chemical Engineering
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Fellow
Country of Origin: China
Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: South Carolina
Approval Notice Date: February 29th, 2016
Processing Time: 11 days (Premium Processing requested)
Case Summary:
In this EB-1A case, a postdoctoral fellow selected North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to help him with his I-140 petition. As our client elected to file his case under Premium Processing, he received notification of case approval just 11 days after it was filed. Premium Processing (only available for EB-1 cases) allows for adjudication to happen within 15 days as opposed to 4-9 months.
Our client obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from his birth country of China and is currently serving as a postdoctoral fellow at a top American university. His research focuses on solid oxide fuel cells and battery and mixed ionic-electronic conductors, and he is also an expert on surface science as revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. We demonstrated that our client’s findings are imperative to the United States as it meaningfully advances the development of new technology in his field of chemical engineering.
Part of our comprehensive services included helping our client select potential recommenders who could fortify our EB-1A petition by providing recommendation letters. Our client convinced five experts to lend their support and these letters played a role in supporting our argument that our client is a leader in his field. For instance, one of these letters stated, in part, that “This kind of recognition illustrates how [Client] is operating at the highest levels of excellence in his field, where he acts as both a visionary leader and as a pragmatic problem-solver. It is certainly in the best interest of both science and industry to allow [Client] to remain in the United States and continue his work uninterrupted.”
We also incorporated the 562 citations amassed from our client’s 36 publications in our EB-1A petition dossier. Furthermore, we highlighted the staggering 80 times that our client had judged the work of other chemical engineers through peer reviews. According to one of his recommenders, “Service as a peer reviewer is restricted to those professionals who exhibit superior discernment in and familiarity with the subject matter, and the selection of [Client] for this critical task reflects how highly his opinion and good judgement are esteemed by other leaders in the field.”
We are glad that our diligent efforts and our client’s impressive credentials persuaded the USCIS to approve this EB-1A petition. We congratulate our client on this milestone and wish him the best as he takes the final step towards his green card (the I-485 application).
