Case Summary:

When a leading research institute decides to fund an individual’s project, they usually set very high standards of qualification for it. So when a Genomic Scientist who had been funded by the U.S. National Institute of Food and Agriculture, to ensure the long-term viability of agriculture, the endorsement was an important supporting argument in his claim to the EB-1A category. Along with the proficient use of his academic and professional credentials, we used the information about the research grant to file a personalized petition at USCIS.

We were able to do so with help from our efficient team at North America Immigration Law Group. We went ahead and did an in-depth study of his background which aided us in deciding the right path of adjudication for him. In doing so we took care to include the following in our application:

• We made sure of the visibility of his publications. This showed that his research was actively employed in knowledge production. The client had published 29 peer-reviewed scientific articles. Moreover, his papers had been published in some of the most discerning, high-impact journals in his field.
• We made sure that his citations were known which showed the reliability of his work in the field of genomics. He had submitted evidence of 511 citations, which proved his continuing value in the field.
• Not only does his publications have an enormous citation count, but we also found that they have been cited by researchers in at least 61 countries according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of genomics.
• Along with this, we suggested he submit 4 letters from experts in the field attesting to the importance and significance of his contributions.
• In the years that he has spent investigating issues related to crop genetics, he has come to be regarded as an authority in the field. The field has recognized his authority by inviting him to review and evaluate the work of his peers no fewer than 60 times.

Two of the several recommendations that he procured had the following to say that once again corroborated his importance in the field:

“Beyond this, [the client’s] research has applications in other globally relevant industries, including the production of biofuels. Biofuels, like biodiesel, are produced from the oil of plants and function as a renewable, clean substitute for fossil fuels and other environmentally devastating products currently used in energy. [The client’s] research thus has obvious and broad utility on a global scale.”

“[The client] has applied his knowledge and expertise in genomics to provide new insight into the genes that have a direct role in the health benefits associated with peppers, including their capsaicin production and accumulation as well as their resilience to stressors and pests. It is therefore clear that [the client’s] research is advantageous to the United States and its interests.”
