Case Summary:
North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) has time and again proven to be a frontrunner in immigration matters. This was evident in the case of a Chinese assistant professor of computational mathematics, who hired our firm to help him with EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition filing. We conducted a preview of his professional background and once we determined that his credentials met the standard for EB1A, we established an attorney-client relationship.
Building a solid EB1A case is a lengthy process that usually spans over several months. We earmarked our client’s major achievements in the field and meticulously presented them to the USCIS with supporting documents. Some of the main achievements we highlighted included:
– Our client had established himself in the field of computational mathematics through publication of 18 peer-reviewed articles which had amassed an astounding 623 citations. These publications were the outcome of several years of in-depth research, particularly focused on numerical optimization and its applications in areas such as machine learning, statistics, engineering, image processing, finance, and the social sciences. Through his impactful research, our client also contributes to the American scientific community’s understanding of state-of-the-art computing methods for applications in the aforementioned disciplines. As part of our services, we enumerated the various benefits of allowing our client to continue his research unhindered within the United States.
– We specifically highlighted our client’s role as a peer reviewer for notable journals. At the time of filing, our client had already conducted 70 peer reviews for 9 respected scientific journals. We emphasized how this marks our client as one of the most knowledgeable researchers in the field of applied mathematics.
– Besides the above mentioned scholarly achievements, our client also served as a conference session organizer and sessions chair— positions that are only offered to researchers of the highest merit.
– To top it all off, we advised our client to gather recommendation letters from peer experts. He successfully collected 5 such recommendation letters. According to a professor of mathematics:
“…..he is one of the most innovative and productive researchers working in our field today. […]. His sustained presence in the United States is thus immensely beneficial to the national and international numerical optimization research communities.”
Such statements made by peers reiterated the benefits of retaining a scientist of our client’s caliber within the United States.
After assembling a well-structured petition, we filed it with Premium Processing (PP). PP is a paid option offered by the USCIS whereby select petitioners willing to pay an additional $1,225 will have action taken on their cases within 15 days instead of 4-9 months. Our client received notification of EB1A approval 8 days after filing.
Our client was very satisfied with the positive outcome and decided to retain us for filing I-485 applications for himself and his wife. We are currently awaiting a decision from the USCIS, and we thank our client for trusting us to help him secure his green card.
