Case Summary:
In this case, the client that we had the pleasure of working with was a Chief Fellow from India in the field of oncology. His work had largely focused on the use of common prescription medications to aid in the prevention and suppression of lethal cancers, and he had further made advancements in patient care through his quality-of-life studies. This work had resulted in at least 29 peer-reviewed scholarly publications appearing in leading journals and 5 conference presentations and international conference proceedings. At the time that his case was filed, these publications been cited at least 148 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work. He had also served on the editorial board for six journals in addition to being a peer reviewer. The value of his work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “Cancer is a pressing problem worldwide, and [his] research has made great strides in its treatment and prevention. The National Cancer Institute estimated that there were nearly 14 million Americans with a history of cancer by the end of 2011. Cancer is caused by external factors like chemicals and radiation, but also by internal factors like hormones and immune conditions, and years can pass before a cancerous tumor shows any symptoms. Thus, many cancers are difficult to detect and treat, but [his] research has aided in our knowledge of cancer suppressants and is helping to save lives, years of treatment, and even money.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought to remain in the United States to continue work in the area of oncology, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States. With the proof and documentation that we provided, his case was approved in 7 months and 7 days.
