General Field: Preventive Veterinary Medicine

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Country of Origin: Pakistan

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Iowa

Approval Notice Date: December 14th, 2023

Processing Time: 8 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

We are glad to be able to persuade USCIS of our client’s intended research here in the United States on the host-pathogen interaction mechanisms of BRDC pathogens in cattle and bison with the goal of developing vaccines and diagnostic instruments that improve the health and productivity of cattle. After reviewing his research background, we concluded that his proposed endeavor is of great importance because it addresses the considerable impact of bovine respiratory disease on global food security and the financial stability of the beef cattle industry.

When our client, a holder of a Ph.D. in preventive veterinary medicine, hired North America Immigration Law Group to file an I-140 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition to assist him in taking a step toward receiving a green card, we looked over his qualifications in detail and decided to help him succeed at NIW. With more than 32K approved cases, we were confident to provide our client our complete support in convincing USCIS of his intention to remain in the country and addressing the pressing challenges related to bovine respiratory disease and veterinary pathogens. To reach our intended objective of successful NIW approval, we concentrated on the following details:

  • It is noteworthy to mention that his proposed work has been supported with many funding grants from The Chinese Agricultural Research System; The National Natural Science Foundation of China; The National Key Research and Development Program of China; the Saskatchewan Agriculture Development Fund; and the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association, confirming the tremendous value of our client’s work, and serves as evidence of his success in preventive veterinary medicine to date.
  • Besides, we discussed how he has been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for highly acclaimed journals in the field. At the time of filing, he had completed 17 peer reviews, proving him as very knowledgeable in the field.
  • Moreover, we recorded the 246 citations, amassed from the 18 peer-reviewed journal articles (5 of them first-authored) he published in no fewer than 5 highly ranked peerreviewed journals, signifying that our client has provided independent researchers from around the world with useful approaches to the study of complex topics within the field of preventive veterinary medicine.

To bolster his NIW case further, we incorporated 4 recommendation letters in his petition packet, proving that our client is a distinguished researcher working in his. The following excerpt has been contributed by one of his recommenders:

“The burden of M. bovis stands as a significant challenge for the United States from an economic standpoint. As a prevalent pathogen, it orchestrates a spectrum of infections from pneumonia to keratoconjunctivitis, inflicting substantial burdens on producers… This understanding, in turn, accelerates efforts to improve diagnosis and develop targeted interventions, which is vital to the health of the beef and dairy sector. The impact of bovine respiratory diseases on the United States economy, evidenced by staggering losses in both livestock and revenue, demonstrates the importance of the continuation of [our client’s] research here in the United States.”

Just 8 days after we filed his NIW petition with the USCIS, our client secured his NIW approval with flying colors, saving him from a lengthy wait or an unpleasant surprise with an RFE. The excellent news is that our client intends to retain our professional services for his and his spouse’s I-485 applications since the next step is to file for the I-485 case in order to obtain a green card. We are deeply appreciative that he chose our law firm for his I-140 petition. We hope to collaborate with our client once more and assist him in obtaining his green card.
