Case Summary:

Whenever a client approaches us for their case, we first try to understand their requirement and then look into their academic and professional accomplishment to ascertain if they qualify for the chosen visa category. And since we have over 32,000 case approvals under our belt, we can boast of having seen clients from all walks of life and from all over the world. So when a client from India approached us for her National Interest Waiver approval, we took the same initial steps and then signed the retainer with her. At times some clients are worried that their qualifications are not what the USCIS demands successful adjudication. This was the case with the present client who was worried that since she did not have a Ph.D., she was perhaps not eligible for the NIW visa. Dispelling this fear, our team took her case to work and collected the following data for her petition:

• Her proposed endeavor is to continue her research on investigating different aspects of intestinal innate immunity in order to find novel targets and therapies to treat inflammatory bowel diseases including Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease.
• This research endeavor is of great importance because it has important implications for the treatment of both obesity and inflammatory conditions like inflammatory bowel disease. This is due to her having worked extensively on both the study of the role of the gut microbiome in obesity and on the role of inflammasome activation in cases of pulmonary fibrosis. This is why one of her recommenders said:

“[The client’s] research has numerous applications to healthcare, including an improved understanding of obesity and other health conditions that are affected by gut microbiome imbalance. By providing new information on how HHCy affects gut microbiome health, [the client] has made critical contributions to the field of biochemistry and demonstrated the value of her input on a variety of health issues that impact the United States.”

• Additionally, her proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States. Fact sheets from the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America show that current studies estimate that around 1.6 million Americans are currently living with inflammatory bowel diseases and that this number has grown by some 200,000 since 2011.
• Due to this clear national importance, her research has in fact been supported with funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the Aging Biology Foundation.
• Due to this other recommenders said:

“Considering the substantial number of people who are living with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and the significant health risks associated with this diagnosis, [the client’s] research is immensely important from a global medical perspective. Based on these facts, I am confident that [the client] will continue to influence her field through her ongoing and future research efforts if afforded the opportunity to do so.”

“Currently, there are approximately 54 million Americans who are 65 years or older. This represents a significant portion of the nation’s population, which underscores the value of efforts to address age-related diseases and conditions. By enhancing the treatment of age-related inflammation and providing further understanding of how age affects the development of COVID-19 infections, [the client’s] research has advanced the treatment of healthy and sick elderly Americans, aligning her work with the national interest.”

• On the other hand, her research has resulted in 10 peer-reviewed journal articles (2 of them first-authored) and two conference abstracts. Not only has she successfully completed and published the results of her research in the field, but her research has also gone on to influence her peers. That is, her publications have been cited a total of 253 times according to Google Scholar.

She has pursued research directly related to her proposed endeavor for 4 years which has won her reliability in the field. When her approval came through, we were very happy for her. We thank her for choosing us and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
