Case Summary:

A postdoctoral research associate in data processing and analysis techniques from Nepal came to us for his National Interest Waiver application. Our team approached the case once the agreement and other formalities were finalized. Soon we collected an impressive database which we weaved into his application winning him approval in just 3 months and 14 days. Some of the winning factors were:

• His research was on developing practical models for functional and structural materials and constructing robust data processing and reconstruction methods in the process by utilizing his extensive experience with theoretical and applied mathematics, entropy dynamics, and fractal and fractional order mechanics.
• This work was of great importance because it helps enhance the performance of materials like polymers which are vital components for mitigating failure in a variety of mechanical components.

• His proposed research also has broad implications for the United States since the top importers and exporters of polymers across the globe including the United States, in 2020, imported $376 million and exported $338 million worth of synthetic polymers, according to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC). Due to this one of his other recommendations said:

“[The client’s] system is a novel way to store and reconstruct important data, images, and signals, which is necessary for nearly every computer application. [The client’s] development of a way to successfully compress, store, and reconstruct certain classes of data directly addresses the need for enhanced data storage infrastructure. His processing and representation tools have many different applications, including solving real-world data problems, which renders his work highly relevant to national interests.”

• Due to its clear national importance, his research has also been supported with funding from the Department of Defense (DoD) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
• Due to his knowledge and expertise in applied mathematics, entropy dynamics, and materials modeling, he has been invited to conduct a peer review for an authoritative journal in the field.
• His research has resulted in 5 peer-reviewed journal articles, 3 conference papers (1 of them first-authored), and 1 book chapter. And these publications have been cited a total of 23 times.
• We also noted that he has pursued research directly related to his proposed endeavor for 4 years already.

All of these factors played in favor of the client winning him the approval without an RFE. Another supporting element was the premium processing request that he made after which his case approval took only 8 days to get the confirmation.
