Client’s Testimonial:
“Thank you so much!”
On February 15th, 2023, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Advanced Engineering Materials (Approval Notice).
General Field: Advanced Engineering Materials
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Fellow
Country of Origin: Russia
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Michigan
Approval Notice Date: February 15th, 2023
Processing Time: 8 days (Premium Processing Requested)
Case Summary:
A Russian expert in advanced engineering materials approached our firm for her National Interest Waiver petition filing. As is customary, our team began with the formalities before taking the case on. They looked at her credentials and tried to ascertain the value of her work for the United States. Once this was done, the retainer agreement was signed and the petition writing began. This meant collecting data from her academic and professional experience so that her case could be a convincing one. Some of the information we collected is as follows:
- Her proposed endeavor is to continue employing state-of-the-art nanoscience techniques to characterize, develop, and enhance functional nanomaterials for biomedical and photonics applications in order to improve treatment options for diseases, such as cancer, and advance optoelectronic devices.
- Her research advancing her proposed endeavor is of great importance because it is advancing the development of cutting-edge nanoparticles for drug delivery.
- She has designed and developed novel nanostructures that are ideal for drug delivery. Her research is key to the development of more effective nanoparticle-based treatments for diseases, such as cancer, which are major global public health challenges. By using quantum dots with optimal optical properties as a platform for novel biosensors, her research is conducive to improving global public health.
- Her proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States, since her innovative research is crucial to ensuring continued American leadership in nanotechnology.
- She is a leader in advanced engineering materials research directed at the development of functional nanomaterials and has engineered nanoparticles with excellent fluorescence and chiroptical activity.
- Due to her knowledge and expertise in nanomaterials, she has also been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for authoritative journals in the field where she has completed at least 3 reviews to date.
- Her research has yielded 16 peer-reviewed journal articles (10 of them first-authored), 2 conference papers (1 of them first-authored), and 1 patent which has been cited a total of 274 times according to Google Scholar.
- She also collected 4 letters of recommendation from other experts in the field who understood the value of her work for the country. One of them wrote:
“[The client], a preeminent and pioneering researcher in advanced engineering materials, has facilitated the advancement of therapies for cancer through her original research. [The client’s] first-rate research has led to novel nanoparticles, which is ultimately important for improving cancer treatment and enhancing patient health across the United States.”
So, it became evident to us very soon that she was indeed a valuable asset to the United States where she has pursued research directly related to her proposed endeavor for approximately nine years. These factors when weighed by the adjudicating authorities tilted the scales in her favor, winning her approval in a very short period of 8 days. The premium processing also helped speed up the process.
We are proud of having been a part of her journey to NIW approval and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.
