Success Stories: An Associate Researcher from Nepal Working in the Field of Biochemistry Wins NIW Approval with Our Expert Help

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you for your help on the I-140 petition.”

On March 24th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Associate Researcher in the Field of Biochemistry (Approval Notice).

General Field: Biochemistry

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Associate Researcher

Country of Origin: Nepal

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Kansas

Approval Notice Date: March 24th, 2022

Processing Time: 12 months, 12 days

Case Summary:

“So long as scientific breakthroughs remain an essential component of stemming the rising tide of Alzheimer’s Disease, the international research community cannot afford to lose the important research and voice of [the client] in meeting this aim. For this reason, the uninterrupted continuation of his work is of clear and critical necessity if we are to fully contend with the ongoing crisis of neurodegenerative disease.”

This is a small excerpt taken from a longer letter of recommendation written in favor of our National Interest Waiver (NIW) client from Nepal. It clearly indicated that the work of our client is indispensable to the country’s well-being. This is an important way of showing that our client is eligible for the NIW category of nonimmigrant visa.

As an expert in the field of biochemistry, his proposed endeavor was to continue investigating the mechanisms of proteins and enzymes, aiding better understanding of and treatment of cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and other human diseases. This showed that his research is of great importance because it addresses numerous urgent public health concerns, including Alzheimer’s disease.

On the other hand, due to its clear national importance, his research has, in fact, been supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health. Additionally, his research has resulted in 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (4 of them first-authored), and these publications have been cited a total of 34 times according to Google Scholar. His research in this field has already attracted the attention of the private sector as well. We also showed that our client has pursued research directly related to his proposed endeavor for 5 years now.

At the same time, our client obtained 4 letters of recommendation, one of which had the following to say about his work:

“[Client’s] impressive research concerning the mechanism of y-secretase activation and the effects of Alzheimer-causing mutations has given drug therapy research new tools and datasets with which to develop novel and targeted treatments to improve patient care. With his work impacting millions of Americans, it is paramount that [client’s] research in the United States continues on without hindrance.”

We hence proved that there is a particularly urgent national need for our client’s continuing contributions considering the growing prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease nationwide. This helped us prove that his case was truly genuine and get his approval without an RFE. We thank our client for this opportunity and wish him the best.
