Client’s Testimonial:
“Thank you very much again for all your help.”
On June 4th, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Computational Biology (Approval Notice).
General Field: Computational Biology
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher
Country of Origin: Turkey
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California
Approval Notice Date: June 4th, 2020
Processing Time: 4 months, 28 days
Case Summary:
North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) was approached by a California-based postdoctoral researcher to help her file an I-140 petition. Armed with a Ph.D. in Chemistry and coupled with extensive experience in the field of computational biology, our client seemed like a good candidate to secure EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval. Once we had affirmed her credentials and both parties had agreed to the terms of the contract, we went about building a strong case for her.
Our priority was to highlight her achievements to the adjudicating authorities and to prove that she deserved the national interest waiver. We did this by focusing on her impressive research. Here are some of the details we included in her NIW petition packet:
Research Results:
Our client’s work was focused primarily on developing computational tools to study DNA with a focus on examining the 3D organization of genomic DNA and the effect of its configuration on cellular function. We noted that her untiring efforts had led to the development of new computational tools for studying the organization of genomic DNA. The exceptional credentials of our client made it easy to convince the USCIS that her research in her area of expertise is of great importance because it provides an improved understanding of the connection between DNA structure and cellular function within the human genome.
Our client’s remarkable publication and citation record also deserved special mention: at the time of filing, her publications included 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (4 of them first-authored) and 1 book chapter, and these had altogether amassed 46 citations. Moreover, these papers have been published in the top journals in the field of computational biology, reflecting her peers’ recognition of the value of her research.
Recommendation Letters:
It was imperative that we included letters of recommendation into the presentation. Based on our advice, our client managed to secure five such recommendation letters from other highly renowned experts. The words contributed by a professor read:
“Thus, her work is directly beneficial to the nation’s public health. By generating tools for these detailed inquiries into health and disease states at the single-molecule level, [client] has established herself as one of the best computational biologists of similar career stage.”
Collectively, all five recommendation letters clearly expressed the benefits of allowing a researcher of our client’s caliber to work in the United States.
Taking the Final Step:
After collecting all the relevant documents, we filed the NIW petition on our client’s behalf. Exactly 4 months and 28 days after we filed her case, she received notification of case approval. We congratulate our client for overcoming this significant hurdle in the lengthy process, and we thank her for choosing us for her NIW application.
