Client’s Testimonial:
“Thanks again for your wonderful work.”
On February 12th, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Investigator in the Field of Medicinal Chemistry (Approval Notice).
General Field: Medicinal Chemistry
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Scholar
Country of Origin: Sri Lanka
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California
Approval Notice Date: February 12th, 2020
Processing Time: 11 months, 23 days
Case Summary:
With a doctoral degree in chemistry, a scholar from Sri Lanka was a good fit for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). After a careful review of his credentials, we concluded that we could help him secure the national interest waiver, and these are the key points we focused on:
- We reviewed and accounted for our client’s work on the development of techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate and other forms of cancer. We demonstrated that his work is crucial to the US because it addresses the need for improved diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for detecting and treating cancer, a disease that is prevalent throughout North America and Europe. As early diagnosis and targeted treatments are believed to be the greatest indicators of successful fights against cancer, our client’s research is able to improve the survival rates of this globally prevalent and deadly disease.
- We listed the 35 times his work was cited at the time of filing. We used this number to prove that our client’s publications are widely recognised and relied upon in the field of medicinal chemistry.
- Our client’s publication record was also noted: 5 peer-reviewed journal articles (4 of them first-authored) and 1 U.S. patent. As these papers were published in the field’s top journals, they reflected our client’s influence in the field.
- As with all our clients, we helped him select potential recommenders to support his case. Our client obtained 6 letters of recommendation, all from notable experts and influential researchers in the field. This is what one of them noted about our client and his work: “[Client’s] research therefore helps to make cancer treatments more effective and less demanding on patients, both of which are important goals for cancer therapy. Cancer remains one of the most pressing medical issues in developed countries around the world, and it is important that [client’s] research in this area go on without undue interruptions.”
- We also listed the 10 times our client judged the work of his peers. As only top-level experts are invited to perform review work, our client’s review activity highlighted his important standing in the field.
Request for Evidence (RFE):
Despite our meticulous presentation of our client’s strong credentials, the USCIS issued a Request for Evidence (RFE). As soon as we received the RFE, our legal team sprang into action. We promptly responded to the RFE and successfully dealt with all hesitations about our client’s qualifications.
Overall, it was 11 months and 23 days before the USCIS approved our client’s EB-2 NIW case, and we are pleased that they ultimately granted approval. We congratulate our client on this milestone and wish him the best as he continues to advance the field of medicinal chemistry here in the United States.
