On March 3rd, 2017, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Biomedical Engineering (Approval Notice).
General Field: Biomedical Engineering
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Country of Origin: China
Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Oklahoma
Approval Notice Date: March 3rd, 2017
Processing Time: 10 Days (Premium Processing Requested)
Case Summary:
With a doctoral degree and considerable experience conducting research in the field of biomedical engineering, our client seemed suitably qualified to file his I-140 petition under the EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) category.
Before taking him on as a client, our evaluation team reviewed his credentials and asked him questions regarding his research. Once we were certain that we could build a strong EB1A case for him, we countersigned the retainer agreement and established a working relationship. One of the first steps we took was to help our client select recommenders who could support his case. We helped him narrow down the best candidates and urged him to contact them for recommendation letters. Not long after, our client returned with 5 signed letters, all of which advocated for the approval of his EB1A petition. This is what one of our client’s recommenders stated: “[Client] is clearly one of the most talented and accomplished researchers working in cardiac modeling. His steady record of major achievements in this area of study has propelled him to the forefront of a very fast-paced and competitive field.”
Besides recommendation letters, our client’s comprehensive petition dossier also contained information on the 95 peer reviews he had conducted for various scientific journals as well as the at least 50 papers and abstracts that he had peer reviewed for conferences. As only respected experts in their field are invited to perform this important review work, our client’s frequent review activity established his important standing in the field. We also noted the 382 times his 22 scientific articles were cited.
Overall, we are pleased that we were able to convince the USCIS of the value of our client’s work on electrocardiogram (ECG) and electroencephalogram (EEG) signal processing technologies. By demonstrating that his work is important to the US healthcare sector, we helped our client obtain EB1A petition approval. Not just that, we received notification of case approval merely 10 days after his case was filed. This is because our client chose to pay $1,225 more to the USCIS for Premium Processing (PP). PP guarantees that action will be taken on the petition within 15 calendar days. We congratulate our client on this win and wish him well as he continues to conduct impactful research in the US.
