On February 23rd, 2016, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Field of Materials Science (Approval Notice).
General Field: Materials Science
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Country of Origin: China
Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Pennsylvania
Approval Notice Date: February 23rd, 2016
Processing Time: 7 months, 30 days
Case Summary:
With a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, 8 publications that had gathered 29 citations, and extensive experience in the field of materials science, our client was a suitable candidate for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) meticulously prepared a petition dossier that highlighted all our client’s achievements and submitted it to the USCIS on his behalf.
Besides describing our client’s professional and academic accomplishments, we also included the following information in his petition dossier:
- Strong recommendation letters
When asked, six experts in the field of materials science extended their support for our client’s EB-2 NIW case. They willingly contributed their opinions on our client’s work and explained the significance of his investigations to the scientific community. For instance, one of our client’s recommenders had this to say about his work: “[Client] is a trailblazer whose background in chemistry, pharmaceutical science and materials science serves him well. His accomplishments thus far herald an even more productive and innovative future.” Another recommender’s letter contained this statement; “[Client] has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a great scientific mind, equipped to handle the challenge of finding and developing new materials.”
- Descriptive research summaries
As part of our legal services, we carefully detailed our client’s various research ventures on the synthesis and extensive testing of carbon nanoparticles (CNPs), P3HT-Polystyrene based rod-coil diblock copolymers, and other materials and associated processes—including high-energy ball milling, with applications in the development of solar cell technology and in biomedicine. We demonstrated that our client’s efforts, particularly those on hybrid solar cell technology, directly benefit the American biotechnological sector, energy industry and the country’s energy independence efforts. We also established that despite there being other researchers in the field who have similar qualifications, not many others can attain the same level of success as our client.
The USCIS spent a little under eight months adjudicating this case, and we are glad that they ultimately granted their approval. We congratulate our client (a postdoctoral research associate from China) and wish him the best with his future endeavors.
